Сьерра-Леоне, Республика Сьерра-Леоне Государство в Зап. Африке, на побережье Атлантического ок. 72.3 тыс. кв. км. Население 4.5 млн. человек (1993); народы темне, менде, лимба, фульбе и др. Городское население 32% (1990). Официальный язык – английский. Верующие – мусульмане, христиане, приверженцы местных традиционных верований. Административно-территориальное деление: 3 провинции и Западная обл. Столица – Фритаун. Входит в Содружество. Глава государства – президент. Законодательный орган – Палата представителей. Большая часть страны – Леоно-Либерийская возв. (высота до 1948 м), на севере – отроги Фута-Джаллон, на западе и юге – низменность.
